(Bridgeport, Conn. - April 26, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (1-2) batted around and scored four runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to defeat the Camden Riversharks (2-1) in the finale of a three game series 6-2 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Starting Pitcher Scott Maine received a no-decision and allowed eight hits and two runs, walking three and striking out eight in four innings of work.
With the 'Fish trailing 2-1 in the bottom half of the fourth inning, John Alonso launched a solo homerun to left field to the tie the game up at two, the first roundtripper for Bridgeport this season and 100th of his professional career. In the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded and the score tied at two, Andres Rodriguez gave the Bluefish their first lead of the day with a sacrifice fly, plating Ildemaro Vargas. James Simmons then scored to double the lead on a wild pitch thrown by losing pitcher Eric Kline (0-1). Ryan Babineau completed the four-run rally with a two-run single with two outs plating John Alonso and Prentice Redman. The win in relief went to Luis Perdomo (1-0) who pitched an inning and a third of scoreless and hitless baseball, walking one. The Bridgeport bullpen went five innings without allowing a run, and the pitching staff had a team high 14 strikeouts.
The 'Fish are back in action Tuesday night, April 28th at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard when they host the Somerset Patriots to begin a three game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
