Lexington County Blowfish News Release

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. -- The start tonight's game for Lexington County didn't go to plan.

Fayetteville sent 11 SwampDogs to the plate putting up an eight spot on the Blowfish and their starter Keyton Gibson (Georgia Tech).

Lexington County came back to score 4 of their own in the bottom half of the first on three hits, two errors, a walk, hit by pitch, and a sacrifice fly. All nine Blowfish were sent to the plate in the first.

Both teams scratched a run home in the second keeping the lead for Fayetteville at 4.

The Blowfish cut the lead in half in the third after an Adam Sasser (Georgia) walk and a Kyle Carruthers (UNC Asheville) triple over left fielder Hunter Morris' (Eastern Illinois) head. Carruthers came in via a wild pitch from Dogs' starter Kaeson Wilson (NC A&T).

Steve Sada (Miami, OH) added another in the fourth when he tripled in the left centerfield alley for a triple that would be thrown away at third allowing Sada to advance to home on the error aided inside the park home run.

The Fish would begin to make their final runs at the comeback in the fifth when Bennette Hill (North Greenville) launched his second homer of the season over the right field wall at Lexington County Stadium knotting the game up at 9 a piece.

The Blowfish snagged their first lead of the game in the eighth when they plated three walk and error aided runs giving them a 12-9 cushion. In total the SwampDogs surrendered 7 errors in the ballgame.

Jimmy Townsend-Chase (Western Michigan) got the victory for Lexington County and was solid out of the pen for the Blowfish. Townsend-Chase struck out 7 SwampDogs and induced a huge 4-6-3 double play in the ninth to seal the deal for Lexington County.

Tomorrow night the Blowfish begin the second half of the CPL season against the Wilmington Sharks at the Lex. Coverage on z93.1 FM The Lake begins at 5:45 p.m. and first pitch is slated for 6:05 p.m.
