(Bridgeport, Conn. - April 25, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (0-2) scored three runs in the bottom half of the ninth inning, but fell to the Camden Riversharks (2-0) in the middle game of the season opening three-game series 5-3 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Starting Pitcher Mike Antonini (0-1) allowed eight hits and four runs, while walking three and striking out two in five innings of work.
The 'Fish trailed 5-0 moving to the bottom half of the ninth, when John Alonso led off with a double to left field, his second extra-base hit of the night. Jovan Rosa picked up a pinch-hit single, putting runners at the corners with one out. With Bridgeport down to their final out of the night, Nick Van Stratten belted a two-run triple to centerfield, and Sean Burroughs followed with an RBI single of his own to cut the deficit to 5-3, but James Simmons, representing the tying-run, flied out to centerfield to end the ballgame. The win went to Wes Torres (1-0).
The series finale is at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard tomorrow afternoon at 1:35 p.m. The probable starters are LHP Ryan Kulik for Camden, and RHP Cory Riordan for Bridgeport.
