'Fish Add Infielder Retherford

(Bridgeport, Conn. - September 1, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of infielder CJ Retherford.

"We're excited to have CJ join us here in Bridgeport," says Bluefish Manager Ricky VanAsselberg. "He has incredible power at the plate and will really help us push through this final stretch of the season and hopefully into the playoffs."

CJ joins the Bluefish for his ninth season of professional baseball and second in the Atlantic League. Prior to coming to the Park City, he split time in the Mexican League this season with Campeche and Tijuana. In 108 combined games, the slugger collected a .271 batting average with 22 home runs, 20 doubles, 75 RBI, and 57 runs scored.

The 30-year-old began his professional career in 2007 after being signed by the Chicago White Sox as an undrafted free agent. He spent seven years in the affiliated ranks, reaching as high as the Triple-A level with the White Sox in 2010. He joined the independent ranks during the 2013 campaign, playing for Fargo-Moorhead of the American Association. The following season, he returned to Fargo, before being traded to the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. In 1,016 career minor league games, CJ owns a .281 batting average with 122 homers, 632 RBI and 522 runs scored.
