Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa -The playoffs got off to a fast start for the Fighting Saints last night as they defeated Team USA 1-0 in Game 1 of the First Round of the Clark Cup Playoffs. Tyler Lundey scored a hat trick for Dubuque, and Zemgus Girgensons, Shane Sooth, and Jono Davis all finished with three points as well. The puck drops for Game 2 on Tuesday night at 7:05. A win would allow the Fighting Saints to capture the best-of-three series and move on to play the Indiana Ice in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
The loss for Team USA dropped the U17 Team to a 2-15-0 record over their last seventeen games, a stretch dating back to the Fighting Saints win over the U17s on January 28 in Ann Arbor. Tyler Kelleher, Tyler Motte, and Hudson Fasching all scored in the Game 1 loss, and Team USA responded to each of the Fighting Saints first three goals, rallying to tie the game three times.
Should Team USA rebound for a victory this evening, the Fighting Saints and the Americans will face off Wednesday at 7:05 in Dubuque to decide the series. If the Fighting Saints win tonight, they will open the Conference Semifinals Friday in Indiana.
The first 1,500 fans at the Mystique Community Ice Center tonight will receive playoff rally towels courtesy of Prairie Farms. The doors open at 6 p.m. for tonight's game.
Pregame coverage for tonight's game begins at 6:40 on Dubuque's Super Hits 106 and SuperHits106.com. Streaming video coverage is available on FastHockey.com.
