HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Tennessee Valley Vipers turned the ball over on their first four possessions as the Florida Firecats built a 34-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 76-37 win in front of 3,779 fans Saturday night.
Chris Wallace completed 16-27 passes for 171 yards and six touchdowns in the win. Magic Benton caught seven passes for 106 yards and six scores while Brittney Tellis and Brent Burnside caught a touchdown each.
Clent Crossley rushed 12 times for 42 yards and four scores. Ethenic Sands recovered a fumble for a touchdown while Comone Fisher recorded a safety.
Kenton Evans got the start and struggled. He completed 5-18 passes for 41 yards and three interceptions. Chris Gunn played the second half and completed 14-25 passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Heyward Skipper, Terrence Jefferson and Keith Turner all caught touchdown passes.
Shaheed Richardson had one rushing touchdown and Joey Robinson returned an interception 42 yards for a score.
The 37-point loss was the largest defeat for the Vipers surpassing the 30-point loss to Quad City on May 19, 2001. The six turnovers also tied a franchise record.
Magic Benton was named the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game. Brittney Tellis was named the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game while Levy Brown was named the ADT Defensive Player of the Game.
