Blitz grab first place spot with 52-20 win against Spokane

Bakersfield Blitz grab the first place spot in the af2's Western division after their 52-20 victory over the Spokane Shock in tonight's game in Spokane. Needing only a 5 point lead to break the first place tie, the Blitz showed off their powerhouse moves in front of a sold out arena.

Offensive Player of the Game, Blitz quarterback Mike Wall had 5 touchdown passes, 1 touchdown rushing, for a total of 6.

Eric Mahanke also shined tonight with 8 catches and 2 touchdowns, both touchdown passes from Wall.

DS, Alex Wallace was recently name af2's ADT Defensive Player of the Week. Tonight, he was named the Defensive Player of the Game after he helped hold Spokane back with his great performance, which including an interception.

The Blitz will continue their run for the championship at their next home game, Paint the Town Red Night, on Saturday, May 13 when the Blitz battle the Rio Grande Dorados. All fans sporting the color red will receive 2 tickets for the price of 1. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Rabobank Arena.

Season tickets for the Blitz 2006 season are still on sale, as well as single game tickets. Ticket plans start at the prorated price of $70 and single game tickets are as low as $10 in the lower bowl. Tickets will be available at the Rabobank Arena box office and any Ticketmaster location.
