INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Indianapolis Indians, leading the International League West Division with a 15-7 record, begin a four-day, four-game series with the Charlotte Knights this evening at Victory Field. So far, the Indians have posted a 4-2 record on the current homestand, the longest (10 days of the season).
Charlotte, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, is managed by third-year skipper Nick Capra. The Knights enter the series with a 12-13 record in the IL South Division and their pitching staff rates second in the league with a 3.45 ERA.
Wednesday's Business Day Special (2 p.m.) features the Indians Radio Network broadcasting from the concourse behind home plate. The radio tandem of Howard Kellman and Scott Lauer plans to broadcast future games from the crowd's perspective, a new twist of delivering the game on News Talk 1430 WXNT.
Thursday's matchup (7 p.m.) with Charlotte is 317 Ryders Motorcycle Club. The organization will receive recognition throughout the game.
Friday's final game of the homestand (7 p.m.) is Girl Scout/Nurses Night at Victory Field, featuring a special appearance from Kelley Racing drivers Sarah Fisher and Scott Sharp. Sharp and Fisher, two of the most recognizable drivers in the IRL, will be signing autographs for fans from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. In addition, Ellen Annala, CEO of the United Way of Central Indiana, will lead the singing of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the game's seventh inning stretch.
