Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers (4W-0T-1L, 12 pts) are coming off their third win in a row, defeating the Atlanta Silverbacks 4-0 at Lockhart Stadium. This Saturday, the Strikers find themselves in a fight for first as they travel to Minnesota to take on a one-loss Minnesota United FC (4W-0T-1L, 12 pts) squad. The two teams are tied at the top of the NASL table with 12 points each, but the Strikers are in first place based on the first tie-breaker, goal differential.

The Strikers saw four different players find the back of the net against Atlanta on May 10th as they defeated the Silverbacks to extend their home unbeaten streak to six. Martin Nuñez and Fafa Picault each scored their team leading third goal of the season. The duo is tied with two other players atop of the NASL goal scoring charts. Mark Anderson scored his second of the year on an incredible long-range strike and Carlos Salazar scored his first of the year off a set-piece to tally up the four goals.

After winning their first four matches, Minnesota stumbled in New York, falling in a 1-0 battle with the Cosmos on Monday night. The Loons will be looking to defend their home turf and jump back into first place.

Coach Kronsteiner- "Minnesota is very organized and well coached; I'm very impressed with their team. It's going to be a tough match-up, especially playing in Minnesota. Our guys are playing with a lot of confidence right now. We just need to make sure we stay focused and continue to work well together, and try to come back with some points."
