First place Sidewinder return to Tucson for 12-game homestand

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Sidewinders will defend their Pacific Southern Division lead against the Round Rock Express (Astros), Albuquerque Isotopes (Marlins), and division rival Las Vegas 51s (Dodgers) during the team's third homestand of the season beginning Thursday, May 19th at 6:30 p.m. The homestand will mark the only 12-game stand of the season and the first since May, 2000 and will feature the first ever meeting between Round Rock and Tucson. Heading into tonight's action the Sidewinders hold a 1-game division lead after going 4-3 so far on the road trip in Memphis (Cardinals) and Nashville (Brewers).

Two Sidewinders have been recently honored due to their great play on the field including RHP Edgar Gonzalez who has been named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher-Of-The-Week spanning 5/9-5/15. Gonzalez went 2-0 in 2 starts, allowing just 10 hits and 2 walks while striking out 10 in 15 innings of work during the week. 1B Conor Jackson has been named the Diamondbacks Minor League Player-of-the-Month for the month of April after hitting .385 (30-for-78) with 22 RBI, 9 2B, 1 3B, and 2 HR in his first taste of Triple-A.

Several Sidewinders find themselves among the PCL leaderboards heading into tonight's action, including Jackson who ranks 4th in AVG (.378), 1st in RBI (34), T2nd in H (51), T4th in 2B (13), and 5th in OBP (.473). 2B Andy Green ranks 1st in R (34), T2nd in 3B (4), T4th in H (48), T3rd in extra base hits (21), and T4th in 2B (13). RF Carlos Quentin ranks 1st in OBP (.493) and T5th in R (30). 3B Brian Barden ranks T5th in 3B (3). RHP Winston Abreu ranks 1st in G (19). Gonzalez ranks 9th in ERA (2.79) and 2nd in IP (51 2/3). RHP Jason Bulger ranks T5th in G (17).

Elton John will treat Thirsty Thursday fans to a brief post-game concert on May 19th. Fireworks Friday on May 20th will light the sky during a live performance of Neil Diamond. John and Diamond will be performed Edwards Twins, nationally renowned entertainers from Las Vegas, NV.
