Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Gabe Jacobo slugged two of Rancho Cucamonga's four homers on Thursday night, as the Quakes rolled the Bakersfield Blaze by a score of 13-6 at The Epicenter.

Jacobo finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs to lead a 15-hit attack for the Quakes, who take two of three from Bakersfield in the series.

Jacobo's 13th homer of the year, a two-run shot in the first off Blaze starter Joseph Wieland gave the Quakes the early lead at 2-0.

Bakersfield used the long ball in the fourth, as Chris Gradoville took Quakes' starter Manny Flores deep, his fourth of the year to make it 2-1.

Rancho opened it up a bit in the fifth, scoring four times to take a 6-1 advantage. Mike Trout's RBI groundout made it 3-1, before Jacobo swatted his 14th of the year, a three-run shot to make it 6-1.

Leading 7-3 in the seventh, the Quakes piled on for six more runs. The inning was highlighted by back-to-back homers from Angel Castillo (13) and Jon Townsend (5), as the Quakes took a commanding 13-3 lead.

Reliever Jose Perez was touched for two in the top of the eighth and an unearned run in the ninth, as the Blaze capped the scoring at 13-6.

Flores (4-6) earned the win, allowing three runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Wieland (1-2) got hit with the loss, as he surrendered nine earned runs on ten hits over 6 1/3 innings.

With the victory, the Quakes (16-12, 55-43) remain one game in front of High Desert in the South Division. Rancho opens a three-game road trip to San Bernardino on Friday, taking on the Inland Empire 66ers in the opening game of a three-game set. Friday's starters will be Orangel Arenas (3-1) for the Quakes, while Ethan Martin (9-7) will go for the 66ers. Game time from Arrowhead Credit Union Park will be 7:05pm
