Lancaster JetHawks News Release
In a game filled with big plays by both teams, the final hit went Visalia's way. The Rawhide got a RBI single by Kyle Greene in the bottom of the tenth inning to beat the JetHawks 5-4 Thursday night at Recreation Park. The win gives the Rawhide the series edge, taking two out of three.
A former JetHawk put Visalia in the lead early as Josh Ford hit a two-run homer in the second inning. However, Ross Seaton settled down after that, pitching into the eighth inning while allowing only three runs.
That gave the Lancaster offense time to battle back. Mark Ori singled home Lee Cruz in the fourth inning to put the JetHawks on the board. Federico Hernandez opened the seventh inning with a solo homer to tie the score. Later in the frame a single by Brandon Wikoff and a double by Austin set up a two-run single by Andy Simunic that put Lancaster in the lead 4-2.
Seaton got into some trouble by allowing the first two runners to reach base in the eighth inning before leaving the game. Visalia got a pair of singles to tie the score and force extra innings.
A great defensive play by Rawhide center fielder Alberto Diaz robbed the JetHawks of a run in the tenth. Brandon Barnes singled and stole second, his second steal of the night. Hernandez lined a ball into center field, but Diaz made a diving catch to end the inning.
The Rawhide used an error and a double by Ford to get into position for the game-winning hit by Greene.
The JetHawks' road trip continues as they move onto Modesto Friday night. Robert Donovan (4-10) will make his Lancaster debut against Parker Frazier, who will make his first start for the Nuts. The game begins at 7:05 and will be broadcast live online at JetHawks.com/CSN and on radio at NewsTalk 1380. The Pre-Game Show begins at 6:50.
