First Coach T's Silverados Basketball Camp A Success
June 18, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release
The RGV Silverados Professional Basketball Franchise held it first kid's camp this past weekend at the Boys & Girls Club in McAllen, TX. 50 campers attended the camp! Boys and Girls 6 to 14 years of age participated in the one day camp that tipped off the Silverados year around camps and clinics program that the franchise plans to build and grow in the months ahead.
"Yes it was a big success! We were very pleased with the number of young players that came out to participate in our first camp. Our camp is a fundamentals camp that teaches players the correct way to play the game. A camp scenario should focus on more than just running up and down a basketball court. I think as a whole there needs to be more camps around the USA that focuses on playing the game properly and teaching the correct techniques and fundamentals to players today. Our coaches that worked our camp this past weekend did a fantastic job of working with the players in attendance. It was a good day of basketball! Stated Silverados head coach Steve Tucker.
Local high school coaches Mo Molina, Brian Molina, Roy Swift, and Rahim Muhammad assisted Coach Tucker and his staff with the basketball camp this past weekend.
All players who participated in the camp received certificates for participating in the camp. Two players were honored with trophies as the Mr. & Ms. Basketball Award Winners for outstanding performances in the camp. 9 year old Jaida Muhammad was the Ms. Basketball award winner and 14 year old Daniel Constante won the Mr. Basketball award.
The second Coach T's Silverados Basketball Camp will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of McAllen on Saturday & Sunday, July 21-22, 2007.
