ABA Officials Staff Development/Recruitment Session
June 18, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
San Diego, CA. Tom Chichester, ABA Director of Officials, is hosting the annual ABA Staff Developmental/Recruitment Session from June 21-25 at the University of San Diego. In attendance will be both present ABA officials as well as recruits. With nearly 20 new teams that will begin play in November, the ABA's need for top quality officials has increased dramatically.
At the session, Tom and his crew chiefs will conduct clinics, introduce officials to the unique ABA rules and discuss philosophies. The purpose of the meeting is to prepare all referees to be able to handle the exciting, fast paced action of the ABA game as well as to be good leaders and teachers on and off the court.
The University of San Diego is located five minutes north of downtown San Diego, overlooking Mission Bay and from nearby the Pacific Ocean, about 10 minutes from the San Diego Airport. University contact information is 619 260 4829. If you have any questions, email tcrefaba@frontiernet.net or visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
