Los Angeles Aftershock News Release

Los Angeles, CA - Darwin Carter of the Los Angeles Stars and the ABA's first Belizan born pro basketball player is lighting the league on fire. In his teams first 4 games, the Stars are 3-1 and 2nd place in the West Division.

Carter born in Belize City and a member of the Belizan National Team is second on the Stars in scoring with 22.0ppg behind teammate Ramel Lloyd (28.6ppg). Darwin is also logging what we believe is a league high and an amazing 42 minutes per game. Stars Head Coach Burrel Lee says "when I first meet D.C. 6+ years ago he was maybe one of the top 5 scorers in Southern California in all the leagues, not including NBA players. He is a special player that is right now playing out of position. I have him playing point guard and he is really a shooting guard, but he is helping the team go with his on and off court decisions."

Teammate Matt Houser who has only known Darwin 4 a few months now say's "not to many pro players have the talent and the effort that he puts in on both ends of the court. He plays both defense and offense and never takes a play off unless he is on the bench." Carter stress defense to his team and it shows in games as the Stars are averaging 16.3spg.

Carter is hoping that this chance he has right now playing in the ABA is a stepping stone to bigger things such as playing overseas or even to the NBA. "A 10 day contract in the NBA is worth $30,000 with the chance to play againist the world's best players everyday and I believe that once I get my shot overseas or in the NBA, I plan on working my tail off to stay," say Carter.

Also for teams overseas Carter falls under the new "Cotonou Agreement" meaning that if you was interested in Carter playing for you and also looking at another player over here in the US you can still bring in both.
