SALEM, VA - The Salem Red Sox announced Monday that they are moving the fireworks show originally scheduled for Friday, April 27 to Saturday, April 28 to make Haley Toyota Field more welcoming for all fans on Autism Awareness Night on April 27.

On Friday, April 27, the Red Sox will look to make a difference for people on the autism spectrum with Autism Awareness Night, benefiting Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center. The first 1,000 fans at the stadium will receive a special autism t-shirt to help educate the public about this important campaign. Because loud noises and commotion can be agitating for people on the autism spectrum, the Sox have decided to postpone the show to the next home game the following night.

"We have no doubt that this is the right thing to do," said Red Sox President and General Manager Ryan Shelton. "We want to ensure that Haley Toyota Field is always a welcoming environment for all fans."

The next night, Saturday, April 28, marks a new hope for Sox fans with the first of two Star Wars nights at Haley Toyota Field in 2018. Fans in attendance will now enjoy a postgame fireworks show that calls to mind the end of the Death Stars and Starkiller Base.
