Fireworks Cap Fun Night at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium
August 11, 2012 - Southern League (SL1)
Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
Before the game, NASCAR's Joanna Long from Pensacola, threw out the ceremonial first pitch after she was recognized with her own personal jersey. Two families competed in an on-field promotion during the game with the winner earning a trip to watch the Reds this summer thanks to Pensacola International Airport and US Airways. Then, following the game and a marriage proposal on the field, fans enjoyed another stunning fireworks show courtesy of Highpoint Hotel Corporation.
As for the game, the Wahoos remain just two games out of first place despite a 6-4 loss to the Lookouts. Billy Hamilton stole another base, his 136th of the season. He is now just nine steals shy of the all-time single-season record.
The series wraps up with Family Sunday. Fans will be treated to another giveaway to close out the homestand. The first 2,000 fans will receive a rubber football courtesy of Andrews Institute. Following the game kids can run the bases and families can play catch in the outfield grass in the Family Toss presented by McDonalds.
First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. with gates opening at 2:30 p.m. at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. If you can't make it the game will be televised on WFGX My35.
