Firecats WR/DB Levy Brown Named Defensive Player of the Week

Estero, FL- Florida Firecats WR/DB Levy Brown has been named the af2's ADT Defenisve Player of the Week for his play in the Firecats dominating 60-27 win over the Birmingham Steeldogs last week. This is the 1st player of the week award for Brown.

The Florida A&M rookie made a big impact in the game intercepting a pair of passes in the game. His 1st interception occurred at the Florida 1 yard line and earned him the Cutters Catch of the Game honors as well. He finished the night with 5 tackles to go along with 1 pass break up and 1 missed FG return for 6 yards.

Brown leads the team with 6 interceptions including one returned for a touchdown. He is currently tied for 4th in the af2 for picks this year. In just 9 games he is currently ranked 3rd on the team with 36 tackles and also has one forced fumble and one fumble recovery to his credit.

He finished his three-year career at Florida A&M with 18 interceptions for 162 return yards, along with 216 career tackles (133 solos). He was also named in 2002 & 2003 to the Sheridan Broadcasting Network Black College All-America Football Teams.

This weekend the 9-2 Firecats host the 7-5 Green Bay Blizzard at Germain Arena. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm Saturday July 1st. The Firecats are 5-0 at home this year.

A win by Florida will clinch a playoff berth and ensure the team of finishing no lower than the #4 seed giving the Firecats at least one home game in the playoffs. The Firecats are 3-1 at home in the post season all-time.
