Firecats Maintain Top Spot in Week 14 Coaches Poll

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats are this week's top ranked team again this week after picking up their 4th straight win, 60-27 over the Birmingham Steeldogs. Florida picked up 260 of a possible 264 points and 18 first place votes. The South Division leaders have run their record to 9-2, 7-1 against divisional opponents.

The Memphis Xplorers jumped up two spots after downing the lowly 1-11 South Georgia Wildcats 81-53.. Spokane dropped from 2nd to 4th despite their 49-46 win over Albany. The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz moved up to 3rd and the Arkansas Twisters held on to the #5 spot.

The complete Top 12 is listed below. The number in parentheses indicates the number of first place votes the team received. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team.

This week the Firecats host the Green Bay Blizzard. The Firecats are 5-0 at home so far this season and 12-1 at home in the regular season the past 2 years. A win against Green Bay would clinch a playoff berth for the "˜Cats and assure the team of at least one playoff game at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm Saturday July 1st.

The Firecats head back out on the road next week to Wilkes/Barre Scranton to play the Pioneers. Florida last played the Pioneers on the road in the 2004 American Conference Championship.
