Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats captured the South Division title for the 2nd year in a row with a 40-34 win over the Macon Knights at Germain Arena this past weekend while improving to a franchise best 10-2.
The division championship ensures that the Firecats will receive a 1st round bye in the playoffs and the right to host a 2nd round game at home. Florida is 2-0 at home all-time in the post season.
The 2nd round schedule has been set and the Firecats will host an opponent yet to be determined on August 13th with the kickoff scheduled for 7:40pm. Playoff tickets are now on sale. The Firecats are once again tied with Manchester and Memphis for the leagues best record at 10-2 after both teams lost this past weekend. While the Firecats are guaranteed to finish the regular season with at least the #2 seed in the playoffs, they are still alive for a shot at the #1 seed.
The af2 has a league wide bye week to celebrate the 4th of July. The 2004 ArenaCup Champion Florida Firecats will return to action at Germain Arena July 9th when they will host their South Divisional opponents the 3-9 Arkansas Twisters.
