Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- With the start of training camp just days away the Florida Firecats added some veteran leadership and af2 experience when they were assigned OL/DL Comone Fisher.

The Firecats veteran has totaled 46.5 tackles, 9 sacks and 6 blocked kicks in his career with Florida, he also played with Tallahassee in 2002. The 2004 Arena Cup Defensive Player of the Game was selected to the 2005 All-af2 American Conference 2nd team. Nicknamed "Big Skill" his versatility as a tight end hauling in 4 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown last season has made him not only a fan favorite, but a locker room leader as well.

"He's definitely an Arena One guy. He should be at the next level," Cats coach Kevin Bouis said. "When you look at Fish he might be a little undersized but he needs to get that opportunity. He's a tremendous ballplayer."

Fisher was a four year starter at Ole Miss, who played in 45 games for the Rebels improving his performance on the field with each passing year. He started 12 games as a senior recording nearly half (50) of his career 110 tackles in just one season. Fisher made his presence in the opponents backfield known by registering 11 tackles for losses and 4 sacks from 1996-1999.

Before tearing his right ACL before his senior year, the Houston Texas native was one of the most sought after tight ends after his junior season when he recorded 52 catches for 989 yards and 22 TD's to go along with his 48 tackles and 13 sacks. He earned All-State and All-District honors on both sides of the ball during his sophomore and junior years. Fisher's athleticism didn't stop at the end zone, in addition to playing on State Championship teams in football and basketball, he also earned honorable mention All-District for baseball.

The Firecats will report to camp on Wednesday, March 22nd.

The Florida Firecats open the 2006 season Saturday April 8th on the road against the defending Champion Memphis Xplorers. The Firecats will host the Xplorers Saturday April 22nd at Germain Arena for the home opener.
