Albany/Indiana Firebirds News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League have partnered with The Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis becoming the team's "charity-of-choice." With this newly formed partnership, the Firebirds intend to make this a continuous relationship building experience for both organizations.
The Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis was established in 1893 to provide a "safe haven" for youth on the streets and now serves over 16,000 youth annually. The Boys and Girls Clubs services include character and leadership development, health and life skills, arts and sports, along with fitness and recreation. Several different charity events are already in the works. On Saturday, March 15, the Firebirds will be hosting the first annual "Bowl with the 'Birds." This will be an opportunity for fans to bowl with the team, coaches, the Fabulous Flames, Birds Brigade, and Spike. All proceeds will be given to The Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis.
"The Firebirds are extremely proud to be working with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis," said Firebirds General Manager Joe Hennessy. "Many of today's professional athletes participated in Boys and Girls Clubs activities as kids, which makes it easy to empathize and want to help. Our players and organization are looking forward to the relationship."
Other charity events to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis are also being planned at this time and will be announced in the near future. The Indiana Firebirds are excited to kick-off their relationships with the Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis.
The 'Birds return home on Sunday to face the Los Angeles Avengers in the first of a two-game home stand. The game can be heard on the Indiana Firebirds' Radio Network, which includes ESPN Radio 950 AM (Indianapolis), WPZZ 95.9 FM (Franklin, IN), ESPN Radio 1130 AM (Brazil) and ESPN Radio 1300 AM (Terre Haute). Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 noon. Tickets to that game can be purchased at the Conseco Fieldhouse Box Office, all Ticketmaster Outlets, Ticketmaster charge-by-phone at 317-239-5151 and firebirds.com.
