
FireAnts Take On Raptors Friday in Tupelo

TUPELO, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts (1-5) take on the Tennessee Valley Raptors (2-3) tomorrow, Friday, May 6th at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo, Mississippi starting at 7:30pm.
As the FireAnts gear up for Friday's game, several new players have been added to the âAnts lineup. Antwon Chaney, formerly of the Louisville Fire (AF2) and the
Cincinnati Marshals (NIFL) along with Charles Radford, formerly of the Richmond Rebels (AIFL) will be making their Tupelo debuts at the BancorpSouth Center. In addition, former Macon Knights / Columbus Wardogs (AF2) wide receiver/quarterback Cecil Lester has also signed with the FireAnts.
The Tupelo FireAnts come into tomorrow's game on a two-game losing streak following a 51-15 loss to the Fort Wayne Freedom (5-0) two weeks ago. Tupelo is currently 1-2 in the UIF-South Division and is 1-4 at home. Opponents are outscoring the FireAnts by an average score of 46-29 so far this season. The Tupelo offense is averaging 138 yards passing and 69 rushing for an average of 207 yards of offense per game. The defense is averaging 148 yards passing and 85 yards rushing for an average of 233 yards allowed per game. Tupelo has turned the ball over 12 times and has 18 takeaways for a league-high turnover ratio of +6. After tonight's game, the FireAnts hit the road for a three-game road swing, beginning next Sunday, May 15th at the Lexington Horsemen (4-2).
The Tennessee Valley Raptors are currently riding a one-game winning streak following a 39-32 win over the Peoria Rough Riders (2-3) last Saturday night in Huntsville, Alabama. Tennessee Valley is currently 1-1 in the UIF-South Division and is 0-3 on the road. The Raptors are outscoring their opponents by an average score of 41-29 so far this season. The Tennessee Valley offense is averaging 133 yards passing and 61 yards rushing for a total of 194 yards of offense per game. The defense is averaging 126 yards passing and 104 yards rushing for an average of 230 yards allowed per game. The Raptors have turned the ball over seven times and have forced nine turnovers for a turnover ratio of -2. After tonight's game, the Raptors remain on the road next Saturday, May 14th as they face the Evansville BlueCats 4-2.
