Week Seven Player-of-the-Week Awards Announced

Omaha, NE – Jackson, Blackburn and Mulder lead charge in Week 7 Player-of-the-Week awards. United Indoor Football is proud to announce Players-of-the-Week awards for Week 7 of the 2005 season. Weekly awards are presented in three categories: Offense, Defense and Special Teams.

Week 7 offensive player of the week was Sioux City running-back Fred Jackson. Jackson ran for 134 yards on 15 carries for the Bandits and found the end zone an impressive 4 times on Saturday night. The Bandits versatile back added a touchdown through the air on 1 reception for 23 yards. Jackson also had 98 yards on 3 kick returns, including one return for 50 yards and yet another touchdown on the night. Sioux City's scoring leader had a total of 6 touchdowns and 255 all-purpose yards Saturday night and helped lead the Bandits to an overwhelming road win over the Black Hills Red Dogs.

Sioux Falls linebacker Mark Blackburn claimed the Defensive player of the week award in Week 7. Blackburn had one of the most impressive single game defensive performances of the year racking up 17.5 tackles on the night. The Storm defensive leader had 14 unassisted and 7 assisted tackles to go along with 1 pass break up, 1 tackle for loss and 1 sack on the night. Blackburn's impressive individual performance came as Sioux Falls lost a close game at home against the visiting Ft. Wayne Freedom.

Wrapping up the week 7 awards in the Special Teams category was Lexington special teams star William Mulder. Mulder had 3 kick returns for a total of 92 yards, including one return end-to-end for a 50 yard touchdown in the Horseman's game against the visiting Greyhounds. Mulder also lead the charge on the other side of the ball with 3 solo tackles on Horsemen kickoffs. Mulder's efforts helped lead Lexington to a close home win against long-time rival Ohio Valley.
