Tupelo, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts hit the road this weekend as they take on the Lake Charles LandSharks in Louisiana on Saturday.
The Tupelo FireAnts come into this week's game in second place in the Atlantic South Division with a record of 6-3, including 4-3 in the division, and a 1-2 record on the road. The FireAnts are on a one-game losing streak after losing a 60-58 nail-biter versus the Houma Bayou Bucks last Friday night in a home game decided by a controversial fourth-and-goal quarterback keeper late in the fourth quarter. The FireAnts have scored a league-high 60 points per game, while allowing 48. Tupelo is averaging a league-high 110 yards on the ground per game, with 157 through the air for a total of 267 yards of offense per game. Tupelo's defense has allowed 80 yards rushing per game, and an average of 184 yards passing for a total of 264 yards of offense per game, with a total of 18 sacks, 5 fumble recoveries, and 16 interceptions. For the season, the FireAnts have been penalized an average of 5 times for 36 yards per game.
The Lake Charles LandSharks come into this week's game in fifth place in the Atlantic South Division with a record of 2-7, including a mark of 0-6 in the division, and a 1-3 record at home. The LandSharks are on a four-game losing streak after dropping a 48-28 decision against the Beaumont Drillers last Thursday night in Beaumont, Texas. The LandSharks have scored an average of 40 points per game, while allowing 44.
