Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO, IL (April 10, 2009) - The Chicago Fire (2-0-1, 7 pts.) will continue their 2009 campaign this weekend as they face the San Jose Earthquakes (1-2-0, 3 pts.) in San Jose this Saturday, April 11 at 3 p.m. CT. Last season, the Fire were undefeated against the 2008 expansion side recording a win on the road, and a tie at home. The Fire opened up the 2008 series against San Jose on April 12, spoiling the club's first home opener in over 2 ½ years. The Fire battled the Earthquakes to a scoreless tie in their 2008 home game at TOYOTA PARK on June 28, giving Busch his second shutout against the team and his sixth shutout in 2008.
The match is the 25th all-time regular season meeting between the two clubs and the first of two meetings in 2009. The Fire have an all-time regular season record of 10-6-8 against the Earthquakes, including a mark of 4-5-3 on the road in San Jose. While the Fire have posted twice as many goals as the Earthquakes when playing in Chicago (22 GF, 11 GA), the Quakes have a slight edge in goal scoring in San Jose posting 12 goals to the Fire's 10 goals in all-time regular season matches.
Comcast SportsNet Chicago will use the feed from Comcast SportsNet Bay Area to provide a regional English Language broadcast in the Chicagoland area this Saturday.
