Louisville Fire News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Louisville Fire Arena Football team will honor University of Louisville Alumni Saturday, July 28th at 7:00pm in Freedom Hall. Fire fans and U of L alumni will have the opportunity to meet U of L alum Tiger Jones and Tony Stallings.

At halftime the Fire will honor Director of Athletics / Vice President Tom Jurich and U of L baseball head coach Dan McDonnell. Jurich was recently named the "Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Athletic Director of the Year."

About Tom Jurich

"From facilities to gender equity, from community involvement to national leadership, Jurich's actions prompted one state media outlet to recently write that "It all shows yet again that the hiring of Tom Jurich, the architect of this Louisville emergence, as U of L AD in the fall of 1997 stands as one of the most significant events in our state's modern sports history." After just eight years working his constructive efforts, he was inducted into the state of Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006." - From the official website of the University of Louisville Athletics Department

The Fire will also honor U of L baseball head coach Dan McDonnell. McDonnell was named the "Rivals.com National Coach of the Year" leading the 2007 Cardinal baseball team to their first ever College World Series appearance. Winning the Super Regional was only the second appearance ever for a post-season appearance by the Cards.

About Dan McDonnell

"When we met him, he was the most prepared of any candidate that I have brought in on an interview in any sport. Recommendations for him came from across the country about his ability to recruit and handle student athletes. He reminds me a lot of Bobby Petrino," said U of L Athletic Director Tom Jurich.
