
Fire-Olympiakos Game Canceled

CHICAGO, IL (Friday, May 16, 2003) - It was announced today that the Chicago Fire's international friendly against Greek powerhouse Olympiakos scheduled for Wednesday, June 4 at North Central College's Cardinal Stadium, has been canceled.
"I am very sorry that this game will not take place as planned," said Nicholas Carras, Olympiakos Piraeus Football Club's authorized negotiator. "Olympiakos changed their original plan and will not be able to play the game with Chicago on June 4, even though there was a verbal agreement. I apologize again and I wish Chicago Fire the best this season."
Ticketmaster phone and internet orders will automatically be refunded through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster outlet tickets must be returned to the outlet where tickets were purchased for a refund. Tickets purchased through the Chicago Fire Ticket Office can be mailed to: Chicago Fire Ticket Office, 980 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1998, Chicago IL 60611 or returned to the Chicago Fire Box Office at Cardinal Stadium in Naperville for a refund. Box office hours are Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CT. Chicago Fire full season tickets holders will hold on to their "Bonus Game A" ticket, which will be re-scheduled for a different game later in the season.
"The Chicago Fire regrets this cancellation and will work to reschedule the game in the future," said Fire GM Peter Wilt.
