Toronto Rock News Release

(Toronto, Ontario) – Thursday December 12th, 2002 – The Toronto Rock is pleased to announce that Kevin Finneran has signed with the team. Finneran was given the green light to sign after Rock GM, Les Bartley, put a trade together that was beneficial for both clubs, releasing the rights to defender Drew Candy to the Philadelphia Wings.

Finneran holds the longest continuous games played streak (188) in the history of the NLL and is pleased to have the ability to continue his. Talks began between the two parties almost a month ago and Finneran is thrilled with the verdict "I knew that leaving Philadelphia was going to be difficult, they're a great organization with great fans but I am excited about the move to Toronto and becoming part of their organization. Hopefully I can help the team repeat" spoke Finneran.

Finneran , 6'2" 200 lbs, brings a wealth of lacrosse knowledge and experience to the Rock. Finneran has spent the last 10 seasons with the Wings, while he has accumulated 211 goals and 296 assists. Last season Finneran finished the regular season second in scoring for the Wings with 39 goals, 40 assists for 79 points.

Finneran will aid a line-up that has been serious scrutinized for the lack of goal scoring.

"We really had the deal finalized in time to help the Rock score some goals. With the absence of Kim Squire and potentially Dan Stroup, we were in need of some goals and I am fully confident that Finneran will bring that to our team" said Les Bartley.

He is yet to decide whether or not he will relocate to Toronto for the upcoming season.
