Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings indoor lacrosse team heads to The Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ to play a preseason scrimmage against the New Jersey Storm this Sunday, December 15 at 12:30 p.m.. The scrimmage will be played at the Von Center on the school campus, but is not open to the public. This is the Wings second and final pre-season contest, falling to the Colorado Mammoth last Friday at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO by a score of 15-14.
After making history last weekend against Buffalo as the first woman to ever play in a National Lacrosse League (NLL) game, Storm goalie Ginny Capicchioni will once again see action. She turned away ten Bandit shots and allowed five goals in the second quarter of Friday's game.
The Wings will look for strong repeat performances from forward Jeff Ratcliffe who had six goals in the game vs. the Mammoth and forward Matt Striebel who scored two goals in that game. The Wings newest member Drew Candy, who was acquired yesterday in a trade with the Toronto Rock, will also see playing time.
The six-time World Champion Philadelphia Wings begin their eight game home season at the First Union Center on January 11th. Season tickets for the 2003 Philadelphia Wings are now on sale by calling (215) 389-WINGS. Wings season tickets start as low as $120.
The Philadelphia Wings are owned and operated by Philadelphia Wings L.P., whose principal owners are Russ Cline and Michael French. Comcast-Spectacor serves as the marketing, promotional, advertising, sponsorship and publicity arm of the Wings.
