Final day to bid on Condors game-worn Jerseys

The 10-day long game-worn jersey auction currently held on eBay will come to an end today, May 4.The jersey auction, which will benefit the Active 20/30 Club, gives Condors fans the opportunity to own the white jersey that their favorite players wore for games while supporting a worthy charity. The Active 20/30 Club supports local youth organizations that helps disabled or less fortunate children.

Several of the jerseys are still at their opening bid, so be sure to take advantage of the great deal. The auctions will start ending at 6:40 p.m.

Condors Summer Reading:

The Bakersfield Condors have teamed up with the Kern County Library to promote reading over the summer break. All children up to age 18 who read 20 books this summer, as part of the Kern County Library's Summer Reading Program, will receive a voucher to a Condors game in October.

To promote reading Condors players or mascots will serve as the guest readers at the Beale, Northwest, Rathbun, Southwest and Wilson branches' Family Time Story Hour during the summer. Click back to the Community Update section on bakersfieldcondors.com for those upcoming dates and times.

Wednesday, May 6:

Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will be featured as the Panama Elementary School's Celebrity Reader starting at 8:45 a.m. The Colonel will act out scenes from a children's book while the story is being read aloud. The Colonel will also bring Condors posters and other goodies for all the students. Panama Elementary School is located at 9400 Stine Road.

Friday, May 8:

Condors G Yutaka Fukufuji will throw out the ceremonial first pitch when the Bakersfield Blaze take on the Visalia Rawhide at Sam Lynn Ballpark at 7:15 p.m. Fukufuji, who was the first Japanese born player to play in the NHL, is the Condors all-time leader in minuets, saves and wins.
