PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons will take on Oakland University's NCAA Division 1 club team in a pre-season matchup Saturday at 2 p.m. at McMorran Arena. Admission to the game will cost $4. All season ticket holders will get in for free.
The game will be Port Huron's second pre-season tilt in three days, as they defeated the Traverse City North Stars 5-2 Thursday night at Ferris State University. Saturday's game is the last game action the Fighting Falcons will see until their regular season opener next Wednesday against the Alexandria Blizzard at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN.
Building on the momentum of Thursday's victory is the Fighting Falcons' goal Saturday, as they look to finish the pre-season with a perfect 2-0 record. Oakland University's team is made up entirely of players from Michigan and Ontario, and includes three former North American Hockey League players.
Billy Balent, who tallied four goals and six assists in ten games against the Fighting Falcons as a member of the Motor City Metal Jackets last year, will suit up for the Grizzlies.
The Fighting Falcons had a great showing offensively Thursday against the North Stars, a team that had beat them in all 12 matchups last season. Newcomers Mike Moroso, Alex Globke and Zach Mohr accounted for four of Port Huron's five goals, with returning forward Logan Lemirande adding the fifth.
Port Huron skaters put 41 shots on net, just one shy of their highest total last season.
Season ticket packages will be available for pickup during Saturday's game. Fans who would like to purchase ticket packages can do so at the West Upper window during the game.
Season tickets are still available for just $150 at the Fighting Falcons office inside McMorran Arena. The team recently introduced the "Stars of Tomorrow" package, which includes a ticket to each of the team's seven biggest promotional nights of the season for $46. The first 200 fans to purchase a "Stars of Tomorrow" package will also receive a free round of golf at Black River Country Club.
