Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, split a weekend series with the Johnstown Tomahawks following a loss to the Michigan Warriors to earn two points during a stretch that saw them play three home games in four days.
ÃâÃÂ
Port Huron hosted Michigan in their first mid-week home game of the 2013-14 season on Wednesday, falling 4-3 on a last-second goal.
ÃâÃÂ
Mitch Maloney, Alex Archibald and Jonathan Kopacaka scored for the Fighting Falcons, who fell to 2-3-2 against the Warriors on the season.
ÃâÃÂ
The Fighting Falcons hosted a weekend series against the second-place Tomahawks for the first time this season on Friday and Saturday night.
ÃâÃÂ
Port Huron held off a late rally by Johnstown on Friday to hold on to a 5-3 victory. Mitch Maloney scored twice, while Vito Aluia, Matt Seidel and Nick Horne each added a goal of their own. Seidel also chipped in three assists on the night for a four-point game.
ÃâÃÂ
Goaltending was the story of Saturday's game, as neither team found the back of the net until the third period. The Tomahawks held on for a 3-1 win after an empty-net goal sealed the Fighting Falcons' fate.
ÃâÃÂ
Max Milosek went 1-2-0 for the week, stopping 23 shots in each of his three starts. The third-year goalie eclipsed the 1000 minute mark for the season Wednesday night. Milosek has appeared in each of the Fighting Falcons' last seven games, with six starts in that stretch.
ÃâÃÂ
Despite dropping two of three games, Port Huron still holds the same four-point lead in the North Division that they brought into the start of last week. The Fighting Falcons are one of four NAHL teams to reach 40 points on the season, and currently sit just two points behind league-leading Fairbanks in the overall standings.
ÃâÃÂ
The team will finish a five-game home stand this weekend, when they host the Soo Eagles this Friday and Saturday night. The Fighting Falcons swept the Eagles in their first trip to McMorran Arena in early November.
ÃâÃÂ
"Jackpot Friday" will send one lucky fan home with $1 per person in attendance. The bigger the crowd, the bigger the prize! Kids 12 & under can get a free walk-up ticket with a paid adult (one free child per paid adult) for Saturday's game, when the team welcomes special guest Santa Claus!
ÃâÃÂ
The Chuck-a-Puck pot begins at $535, as the prize has rolled over throughout the last five games. With chances to win great cash prizes all weekend long, it's a great time to check out the first-place Fighting Falcons!
ÃâÃÂ
Tickets to any Port Huron Fighting Falcons home game are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office starting at just $7 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call the front office at (810) 966-3800.
