Fifth midseason callup for Long Beach Jam

LONG BEACH, CA â Roughly one-third of all callups to the NBA this season have come from the Long Beach Jam of the American Basketball Association (ABA). The team now boasts five callups.
The NBDL, the NBA's version of the minor leagues, has had five callups this season as an entire league.
Members of the Jam spending time in the NBA include DerMarr Johnson, who has just signed a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks. Recently, the Los Angeles Clippers signed Matt Barnes to a second 10-day contract. The Jam's Derrick Dial logged time with the Orlando Magic this season, and Matt Carroll played with the Portland Trailblazers. The franchise's first-ever head coach, Paul Westhead, signed on as an assistant coach with the Magic during the ABA season.
"This speaks volumes on the type of organization we have here," Jam President Steve Chase said. "Players know that if they play with us, they will be looked at by the NBA. And our fans recognize that we are doing the best we can to consistently deliver the most exciting brand of basketball to Long Beach."
The Jam's next game is Sunday at 2 p.m. against the Fresno HeatWave at the Long Beach Pyramid.
