Rockford Lightning News Release

Four Lightning players scored more than 20 points in Thursday Night's 128-127 victory over the Albany Patroons.

Ronnie Fields led the way with 28 points going 10-10 from the free throw line in the Lightning's thirteenth victory of the season, fifth over Albany. Cordell Henry scored 26 points and had 4 steals off the bench, and Roger Powell picked up 24 points and 7 rebounds for the Lightning. Starting guard Marlon Parmer led the team in assists for the seventeenth time out of nineteen games this season with a game high of 11 assists and 22 points. Parmer (4-7) and Henry (5-6) combined to go 9-13 from behind the arc. Henry was 5-5 from three-point range in the first half.

Rockford took 6.0-quarter points in the victory for the sixth time this season winning the first and second quarters by one point each. Kenyon Gamble won the first quarter on a sky-hook with 1.6 seconds remaining on the clock. The second quarter was won on a Powerful dunk by Lawrence Nelson with 3.1 seconds on the clock.

Fans who left early missed an exciting conclusion as the Patroons fought their way back in the fourth quarter after trailing by 12 at the start to take the lead with 20 seconds remaining on a basket by Michael Joiner. Ronnie Fields drove to the lane, stopped near the baseline, turned and hit a signature fadeaway jumper over a Patroons defender to put the Lightning up 128-127 with 5.8 seconds left on the clock. Albany guard T.J. Thompson missed a jumper at the buzzer with several Lightning defenders in his face.

The Lightning will host the Patroons on New Years Day at the MetroCentre. Game time has been changed to 6:05 P.M. (CST). Great seats are still available for the game.
