Fielders Groundbreaking Ceremony Today

Zion, IL. The Lake County Fielders' official Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 5 at 3:00 PM. Hosted by the City of Zion and Mayor Lane Harrison, fans are invited to celebrate the new baseball stadium along with Fielders' management, city officials, sponsors, fans and more.

The Fielders, owned in part by actor Kevin Costner, will play in a state-of the art, 8,000-person stadium located at 850 Green Bay Road in Zion, Illinois. Scheduled for completion in May 2010, the baseball stadium construction project will be managed and developed by Panattoni Development Company.

"We are excited to celebrate with the City of Zion as we commemorate the start of construction on the new stadium" says Fielders' President Rich Ehrenreich. "The groundbreaking ceremony takes us another step closer to a successful 2010 inaugural season".

With a 100-game, 2010 season, the Fielders will begin its home game schedule with a Home Opener on June 11th against regional rival Gary SouthShore RailCats. The Fielders will play most weeknight home games at 7:00 PM, with Saturday games at 6:00 PM, and Sunday games at 1:00 PM.

Tickets for Opening Day are on sale now at www.fieldersbaseball.com. Individual game tickets for all other home games will go on sale at Midnight on Friday, November 27. Tickets can be ordered by calling the Fielders office at 847-731-8000 or by visiting the Fielders store at The Gurnee Mills Mall near the movie theater entrance.
