Indiana Fever News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Fever guard/forward Ann Strother was among 13 players selected Wednesday by the Atlanta Dream, as the WNBA's newest franchise took its first step toward assembling its inaugural roster. Joining Strother as members of Atlanta's first WNBA franchise are Carla Thomas (Chicago Sky), Erika DeSouza (Connecticut Sun), Katie Feenstra (Detroit Shock), Roneeka Hodges (Houston Comets), LaToya Thomas (Los Angeles Sparks), Kristen Mann (Minnesota Lynx), Ann Wauters (New York Liberty), Jennifer Lacy (Phoenix Mercury), Kristin Haynie (Sacramento Monarchs), Chantelle Anderson (San Antonio Silver Stars), Betty Lennox (Seattle Storm) and Yelena Leuchanka (Washington Mystics).

Also from Indiana, the Dream acquired the 24th pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft, in exchange for agreeing not to select specific unprotected Fever players.

Strother, a 6-3 shooting guard who averaged 2.3 points and 0.8 rebounds in 12 games for the Fever last season, was acquired by Indiana as part of a 2007 offseason trade with the Phoenix Mercury. She set career highs of 11 points, four rebounds and two assists during a loss at Seattle last summer.

The director of operations with the University of Colorado women's basketball program, Strother joins her fourth WNBA franchise. She was a second-round selection by Houston in the 2006 WNBA Draft, and part of a draft day trade to the Mercury.

The Indiana Fever begins its ninth WNBA season by hosting the Washington Mystics on Saturday, May 17 (7:00 p.m.). Led by Olympic gold medalist and five-time WNBA All-Star Tamika Catchings, the Fever has completed three consecutive 21-13 seasons and bids for its first WNBA Finals appearance after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in two of the past three seasons. Season tickets are available at FeverBasketball.com, or by calling (317) 917-2500.
