Indiana Fever News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - By virtue of its victory Saturday over the Washington Mystics, the top-seeded Indiana Fever has advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the third time in five years (2005, 2007, 2009).
Indiana will meet the defending WNBA champion Detroit Shock in the best-of-three-game conference finals series that begins Wednesday, Sept. 23 (Time TBD, ESPN2) at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The series shifts to Indianapolis for Game 2 on Friday, Sept. 25 (7:00 p.m., NBATV) and, if necessary, Game 3 on Saturday, Sept. 26 (7:00 p.m., NBATV), at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The winner of the Indiana vs. Detroit series will advance to the WNBA Finals, which begin Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The 2009 Fever playoffs are presented by Kinetico and Subaru. Tickets for Games 2 and 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals are available at FeverBasketball.com, the Conseco Fieldhouse Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling (800) 745-3000.
In the midst of its fifth consecutive WNBA Playoffs appearance and its sixth in 10 seasons, Indiana has qualified for the Eastern Conference Finals for the third time in the past five seasons. Ironically, it is Detroit that has eliminated the Fever from playoff contention in each of the past three years.
Advancing to the WNBA Playoffs for a fifth consecutive season while celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Indiana Fever hosts Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Sept. 25. Led by five time WNBA All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist Tamika Catchings, Olympic silver medalist Tully Bevilaqua, 2008 WNBA Most Improved Player Ebony Hoffman and two-time WNBA All-Stars Katie Douglas and Tammy Sutton-Brown, the Fever bids for its first appearance in the WNBA Finals. Playoff tickets are available at FeverBasketball.com, or by calling (800) 745-3000.
