San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---Thunder sluggers Vic Ferrante and Luke Hetherington drove in five runs each, including a grand slam for Ferrante, as McAllen topped the Colts 12-5 Wednesday night at Foster Field.

Colts starter Alfredo Caballero could not find the strike zone in the first inning when he loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batsman. With the bases full Luke Hetherington lined a double down the third base line that cleared the bases to make it 3-0 McAllen.

San Angelo fought back to tie it with a two-run double by Matt Redding in the second and an RBI single off the bat of C.J. Beatty in the third, but the Thunder broke it open in the fifth. After former Colt Vic Ferrante (6) hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, he stepped to the plate again with the bases loaded in the fifth and hit a grand slam that put McAllen in front 9-3.

Cory Patton (23) hit a two-run home run for the Colts in the bottom of the fifth, but McAllen scored two in the sixth and one in the ninth to make it 12-5.

Thunder starting pitcher Chase Davenport (6-5, 5.39) earned the win after he pitched six innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits to go with four walks and four strikeouts. Caballero (0-1, 14.53) took the loss after he gave up seven earned runs on four hits in four and one third innings.
