(Reading, PA) - Major League Baseball announced on Monday that Felix Reyes was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 2-7.
Over six games last week at Hartford, Reyes slashed .423/.429/.692 (1.121 OPS), while adding three runs, 11 hits, two doubles, one triple, one home runs and 12 RBI, while striking out just twice in 28 plate appearances. Reyes had a hit in all six games last week, including three multi-hit games and a three-hit contest on Sept. 3. Reyes also drove in a season-high five runs on Wednesday night and added four RBI on Saturday. He also drove in a run in each of the final five games of the week.
For the week, Reyes held the following Eastern League rankings: T-4th AVG (.423), 1st RBI (12), 3rd SLG (.692), 8th OPS (1.121), T-1st hits (11), T-2nd 3B (1), T-2nd XBH (4) and 1st total bases (18).
Over 91 games this season, Reyes is slashing .339/.370/.569 (.939 OPS), with 59 runs, 30 doubles, four triples, 14 home runs and 62 RBI. He holds the following Eastern League ranks on the season: 1st AVG (.339), 8th RBI (62), 5th OBP (.370), 1st SLG (.569), 1st OPS (.939), 3rd hits (118), 1st 2B (30), 2nd XBH (48) and 1st in total bases (198).
Reyes currently leads the Eastern League and all of Double-A in batting average by 33 points. He also leads all of Minor League Baseball in average as well. Reyes is on track to become the first Fightin Phil since Tagg Bozied in 2010 to win the Eastern League batting title. Just four R-Phils have won the league batting crown since 1967.
Reyes also paces the league with 30 doubles and he'll look to become the first Fightin Phil to lead the league in doubles since Darick Hall in 2019. His .339 batting average would be third all-time for Reading single-season average and he would be the 23rd R-Phil all time to have 30-or-more doubles in a season. Reyes has posted career highs in nearly every offensive category this season.
Reyes' Eastern League Player of the Week award is the second league honor of his professional career and this season, as he was named Eastern League Player of August last Thursday. He was also named Phillies Minor League Player of the Month for June. It is the sixth Eastern League honor won by a Fightin Phil this season as Aidan Miller was awarded as Eastern League Player of the Week twice in August and Griff McGarry won Eastern League Pitcher of the Week twice this season.
Reyes appeared in 85 games with Jersey Shore (A+) in 2024; and split the 2023 season between Clearwater (A) and Jersey Shore. His second full pro season in 2022 was between the FCL-Phillies (ROK) and Clearwater. Reyes began his pro career in 2021, also splitting time between the FCL-Phillies and Clearwater. Reyes was signed by the Phillies as an International Free Agent Feb. 22, 2020, out of the Dominican Republic, at 18-years old.
