2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY

FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 24-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 10-14-1 when the opposing team scores first.

AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 26-1-1 when leading after two periods, 1-13-0 when trailing after the second, and 7-0-1 when tied at the end of the second.

ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 8-5-2 in games decided by one goal.

TROOPS 2ND IN OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 2nd in OHL scoring with an average of 4.30 goals per game (215 in 50 games), trailing the Windsor Spitfires at 4.90 (250 in 51 games).

BATTALION 3RD IN DEFENCE: The Battalion has the 3rd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing an average of 2.86 goals per game (143 against in 50 games). The Ottawa 67's lead with an average of 2.57 (131 against in 51 games) and the London Knights are 2nd with an average of 2.84 (142 against in 50 games).

POWER PLAY: The Battalion is 10th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 21.9. The Troops have scored 41 goals on 187 opportunities.

PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 86.8 percent. The Troops have allowed 27 power-play goals during 205 times shorthanded.

PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 7th-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 11.8 minutes per game.

EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 174 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 116 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

The Battalion is eight points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion lost 7-2 at Hamilton in its 51st game last season.

TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:

MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 23 goals and 52 assists for 75 points in 49 games and is 2nd in the OHL scoring race. He's 2nd in assists (52), tied 4th in power-play assists (21), and is 6th in plus-minus (+27).

KYLE JACKSON: Overage centre Jackson has 28 goals and 40 assists for 68 points in 50 games and is tied for 8th in the OHL scoring race. He is tied for 6th in game-winning goals (5), tied 9th in assists (40) and is tied for 13th in goals (28).

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 19 goals and 41 assists for 60 points in 50 games and is tied for 1st among all OHL rearguards in goals (19) and is second in assists (40) and points (60) by defencemen. He is 2nd among all players with 236 shots on goal, is 8th in assists (41), tied 10th in power-play goals (10) and tied 12th in power-play assists (14) and game-winning goals (4).

JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 24 goals and 30 assists for 54 points in 52 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit and is tied with teammate Nikita Tarasevich for the OHL lead with four shorthanded goals.

KYLE McDONALD: Overage right winger McDonald has 23 goals and 13 assists for 36 points in 27 games and is tied for 6th in game-winning goals (5).

PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 17 assists for 19 points in 50 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+45).

NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 13 goals and 22 assists for 35 points, all career highs, in 49 games. He is tied with teammate Josh Bloom for the OHL lead with four shorthanded goals and tied for 9th in plus-minus (+25).

DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 27-8-1 with a 2.48 goals-against average and .912 save percentage. He leads all netminders in wins (27), average (2.48) and save percentage (.912).
