FC Tulsa Placed in 14-Team Eastern Conference for 2022 USL Championship Season

TAMPA, Fla. - FC Tulsa's 2022 season came into sharper focus on Tuesday with an announcement from the USL Championship on the upcoming season's alignment and format. Remaining in the Eastern Conference for 2022, FC Tulsa will play a 34-match regular season that includes 17 home matches at ONEOK Field.

It will be the second consecutive season FC Tulsa will play in the Eastern Conference after spending its first six USL Championship seasons in the West. With 14 teams in the East, FC Tulsa will play each conference foe twice, once at ONEOK Field and once on the road. FC Tulsa will also have eight cross conference matchups with Western Conference teams to round out its 34-match regular season.

As a member of the Eastern Conference, FC Tulsa will again see rivals such as Louisville City FC, Indy Eleven and Birmingham Legion FC in 2022 along with new foes such as Miami FC, Charleston Battery and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. It will also play two matches against defending Eastern Conference champions Tampa Bay Rowdies, who eliminated Tulsa from the postseason in 2021.

FC Tulsa will also play matches against eight of the 13 Western Conference teams, four home and four away, to round out their full schedule. Those teams will be unveiled when FC Tulsa's full schedule is released in January.

After back-to-back postseason trips, FC Tulsa will need to finish in the top half of the Eastern Conference to make it three straight trips to the USL Championship Playoffs as the top seven teams from each conference will lock in playoff berths. The top overall seed from each conference will receive a bye in the first round of the postseason. In a change from past seasons, the Playoffs will be reseeded after the first round to ensure the top seed will play the lowest remaining seed after its opening round bye.

The 2022 USL Championship campaign will kick off the weekend of March 11 and run through October 15 with 34 matches in 32 weeks. FC Tulsa's full 2022 schedule will be released by the USL Championship in January.
