 FC Montreal News Release
WILMINGTON, North Carolina - FC Montreal visits the Wilmington Hammerheads FC Saturday night at 7pm at Legion Stadium. The game will be available via web streaming at www.impactmontreal.com/fcmontreal.
Ten days after winning 2-1 over Toronto FC in Montreal, the Bleu-blanc-noir is back on the field, this time in Wilmington, to begin the last stretch of the season.
"It's important to train with high intensity and keep preparing the same for every game and keep our winning mentality for the next game," said midfielder Louis Béland-Goyette.
"It's been about ten days since we played our last game, so we always want to see how we'll be playing when we're back," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "On the other hand, we have rested players. We demand more quality and intensity in training and we quickly want to get our competitive mentality back. The challenge is interesting."
FC Montreal has a 6-1-1 record since the second half of the season, which puts them in the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference. Of these eight games, the team scored 19 goals and conceded only eight. The last two games on the road were victories of 3-1 against Saint Louis and 4-0 against Louisville City FC.
"I think it's important to keep the momentum we have, going out there and not being scared to play away from home," added Béland-Goyette. "We also want to take our revenge as they beat us in Montreal."
Wilmington is last in the East, with a 3-13-6 record, but also had good moments in its last two games. The Hammerheads lost only 2-1 playing the league leading Rochester Rhinos away from home last Saturday, and won 4-2 the week before against the New York Red Bulls II.
"We know that every team going to Wilmington had problems getting points and they hurt us at home," said Eullaffroy. "We go there with respect and humility, knowing it will be a tough game."
The next FC Montreal game will be played on Wednesday, August 26, at Stade Saputo at 6:30pm, against the Charlotte Independence.
