Orange County SC News Release
IRVINE, Calif. (August 21, 2015) - With a winning streak on the line, Orange County Blues FC (11-8-3, 36 pts) faces Austin Aztex (7-12-3, 24 pts) at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Austin, Texas, Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PT.
Coming off another important victory, the Blues' four match-winning streak is tied for the longest streak in club history, only achieved once previously in 2013.
The most recent win was led by Christopher Santana, Denzel Slager, and Pavle Popara, with each player being able to find the back of the net. Santana finished a one-touch shot off a pass from Josh Suggs in the 35th minute to give OC a 1-0 lead. Slager and Popara followed suit late in the second half to finish the match with a 3-0 score line over Arizona United SC.
The Aztex are coming off a heartbreaker against LA Galaxy II last weekend. After taking a 2-0 lead in the first 45 minutes, Austin was unable to hold on, giving up three goals in the second half, including Los Dos's game winner in extra time to drop the match, 3-2.
Saturday will be the second meeting between the two clubs this season and their club histories. Currently in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Western Conference, Orange County will look to improve its standing for playoff contention. It's also the second time that Technical Director Barry Venison will meet Austin Head Coach Paul Dalglish. Dalglish is the son of Liverpool FC legend Kenny Dalglish, whom Venison played under during his time at Anfield from 1986-1992.
