General thoughts...

I see positives in terms of the point. This is not an easy venue to come and play. They needed points as well and they showed that as well and pushed a lot of numbers. I'm proud of the way we defended our half, our box, our goal, credit to the guys in the back line. Credit to the guys up front, it was a full team effort getting compact behind the ball and making it difficult to break us down. I thought first half we didn't generate much, crosses weren't hitting players so that's something we have to continue to improve. And second half we generated a little more offensively. We had some quick counters and I thought we could've been dangerous and actually scored two or three of them. Those are moments that are important for us to be vertical and with the ball, they pushed the game and put a high press on us but I thought we were secure. And if we lost it, it was behind their lines and that gave us an opportunity to organize ourselves and not give away silly opportunities. So it's a positive point, it's a step, we've got to keep working because it's a short season and there's another game in a few days. We have to keep trying to build some momentum.

FC Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer

Thoughts on the game...

Yeah, we fought hard and it was our first away match in awhile, since last year really. So it was an interesting experience. The group adapted well. Again, we're disappointed we weren't able to create more chances and attack the goal. We were organized and fought hard and when you're playing away it's always difficult. Not terrible but we're definitely disappointed, we need to keep building our attacking phase.

On his personal performance...

It felt good. It's what I'm there to do. The guys in front of me defended well. The chances they did have were further shots from outside the box. There was only one or two that were really dangerous like the one from Elis, which was really unlucky. The guys had tons of blocks and fought hard in front of me. And that's what I'm there to do.

On the away trip and new format...

Routine takes time, that's what the challenge of this first one. I think our administration did extremely well, and our coaching staff, to make it really smooth in terms of settling ona routine, having enough down time to rest for the match and to focus. I think it's going to be a smooth transition to settle into this new routine but it takes repetitions to get used to it.

FC Dallas defender Matt Hedges

General thoughts on the game...

Defensively we're always happy with the zero, that's what we strive for. Attacking wise, not the best but it's something that we need to work on obviously. We work as a back line a lot as a three in this preseason so defensively we were solid and attacking wise it'll come. They had more possession and created more chances but defensively I thought we were solid.

On breaking Jason Kreis' all-time MLS appearance record for FC Dallas...

It means a lot. Obviously, to be that player for a club is a really special thing and I'm glad it was in Dallas. They took a chance on me and drafted me even though I had a bad combine and fell down the draft charts. So, I'm glad to just get a chance and look what it's turned into. It's really cool.

On former FC Dallas players congratulating him...

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. But just from what people wrote about it, it looks like it's going to be pretty cool because a lot of my old teammates and friends are on it and I'm excited to see it.

On his passing and distribution...

Yeah, absolutely. It's something the coaches have challenged me to do more of and I've been working on it in training. They've given me freedom to try these passes and I feel like I have improved especially this year, playing in the middle of the year. It gives you a new angle to play those passes and I feel like I've improved on it.

On set pieces...

We looked at Houston's games and noticed they're good offensively on set pieces but vulnerable defensively. So it's something we worked on and I almost had one at the end but I missed it. Great balls from Reto (Ziegler) too, because without the good balls from the server those don't happen. He really played some good balls today.
