FC Cincinnati Trio Called up to 2024 USMNT January Camp
January 5, 2024 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Cincinnati News Release
FC Cincinnati's Roman Celentano, Ian Murphy and Miles Robinson have been called up to the 25-man roster for the annual U.S. Men's National Team's January training camp, USMNT Head Coach Gregg Berhalter announced in a press conference today.
The camp will run from Jan. 8-16 in Orlando, Florida. The USMNT will then head to San Antonio, Texas to open its 2024 schedule with a friendly against Slovenia on Jan. 20 at Toyota Field (3 p.m. ET | TNT, Telemundo, Universo, MAX and Peacock).
FC Cincinnati's three players on the roster in Orlando are level with the Columbus Crew for the most-represented club on the 25-man roster. Celentano and Murphy are among the 17 uncapped players on the roster, while Robinson leads all players on the roster with the most caps (27).
Goalkeeper Roman Celentano earns a call-up to the January Camp for the second-consecutive year, and his third-career senior USMNT call-up. The 23-year-old goalie has made 67 career appearances for FC Cincinnati, notching 19 clean sheets. He was a finalist for the 2023 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year and winner of 2023 MLS Save of the Year.
Defender Ian Murphy earns his first senior call-up to the U.S. Men's National Team. The 23-year-old started 17 of the final 19 matches for FC Cincinnati across all competitions in 2023 and has made 66 appearances for FC Cincinnati since he was selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.
Recently acquired defender Miles Robinson has earned 27 career caps for the USMNT, most recently in an October friendly against Ghana. Robinson attended the joint 2021 January Camp with the senior side and the USMNT U-23, where he impressed and was elevated to the full national team roster ahead of the Stars and Stripes friendly against Trinidad and Tobago, where he scored the first of his three senior team goals.
Following the 2021 January Camp, Robinson would go on to make 12 more appearances for the USMNT in the calendar year, including starting all six Concacaf Gold Cup matches en route to the Americans winning the title.
