FC Cincinnati News Release
FC Cincinnati will face the New York Red Bulls in the 2023 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 series. Game 1 will take place at TQL Stadium this Sunday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. ET (FS1, Fox Deportes, Apple TV - Free with no subscription required, Fox Sports 1360, SiriusXM FC 157 and TSN/RBS in Canada).
The Red Bulls advanced to Round One by defeating Charlotte FC 5-2 in Wednesday night's Eastern Conference Wild Card game at Red Bull Arena.
Fans can purchase tickets to FC Cincinnati's first home MLS Cup Playoff game on Sunday at FCCincinnati.com/Tickets or by calling (513) 977-5425 (KICK).
Sunday will mark the second-straight season that FCC will open their postseason campaign against the Red Bulls, who are amidst their league-record 14th consecutive playoff appearance. The Orange and Blue came from behind to defeat the Red Bulls, 2-1, in the club's first playoff match last October.
Sunday will mark the fourth matchup this season between Cincinnati and New York, which includes a U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 fixture. The clubs split the three prior meetings evenly, 1-1-1, with Cincinnati winning the penalty kick shootout in the aforementioned Open Cup game.
Across all competitions, FCC's 13 matchups against the Red Bulls since joining MLS in 2019 are more than against any other club, with at least two more matches to come in the upcoming Round One Best-of-3 series.
New in 2023, the Best-of-3 series features a home and away game for each team, with a third game if necessary to be played at the higher seed. All Round One matches will be played until one team wins, with no draws. Matches will be held with no extra time, as games tied after 90 minutes will go straight to penalty kicks to decide a winner. The first team to win two matches in the Round One series will move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Game 2 will take place at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, Nov. 4 with kickoff set for 7 p.m. Game 3, if necessary, will be played at TQL Stadium at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 11.
