FC Cincinnati News Release

CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati goalkeeper Spencer Richey will spend 10 days training with Premier League side Crystal Palace from Oct. 28 until Nov. 6 before returning to the United States.

Richey will become the first FC Cincinnati player to train overseas with a Premier League side.

"Crystal Palace is one of the best teams in the Premier League this year, so it's going to be an amazing experience," Richey said. "I'll try to take the confidence that I have and take that over to England with me, and vice versa, I'll try to take some things from those guys that I'm training with and the coaching staff and apply that towards next season."

"I think it's a great opportunity for Spencer," FC Cincinnati Head of Goalkeeping Jack Stern said. "To go to a club that plays in the Premier League and to be able to train at that level for a period of a time will be great for Spencer and great for his development as a goalkeeper."

Richey, 27, made 19 appearances and recorded a pair of shutouts for the Orange and Blue in the club's first MLS season. The Seattle, Wash., native made his season debut in FCC's 1-1 draw at Atlanta United FC on March 10, when FC Cincinnati recorded their first-ever MLS point. Following a back injury, Richey missed the final 12 matches of the 2019 MLS regular season.

FC Cincinnati will return to the field in early 2020 for their second MLS season. Season Ticket Memberships for the 2020 season are now on sale to the general public at fccincinnati.com/tickets or by calling 513-977-5425 (KICK). A 2020 Season Ticket Membership also secures fans' place on the club's priority list, which will be utilized when sales begin in the new West End Stadium for the 2021 season.
