Fayetteville's Rob Sich Named Sher-Wood Player Of The Month

January 6, 2010 - SPHL (SPHL) News Release

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 6, 2010) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Rob Sich of the Fayetteville FireAntz has been named the Sher-Wood SPHL Player of the Month for December.

Sich scored 14 goals, including three game-winners, and added five assists as he led Fayetteville to a 7-4 record in December. The LaSalle, Ontario native also recorded six multi-point games and was held scoreless only once, which ended a seven-game goal scoring streak dating back to November 26.

Sich started December with a goal in each of his first four games before netting his second hat trick of the season in a 4-2 win at Mississippi on December 11. Shut out by Mississippi the following night, Sich resumed his scoring binge as he recorded a four-point night (2g, 2a) in a 5-3 win over Louisiana before closing out the month with goals in each of his next four games, including a pair on New Year's Eve in a 4-3 win over Columbus.

Remarkably, the sixth-year pro has scored a goal in 20 of Fayetteville's 25 games and has been held off the scoresheet only three times this season. Sich has also recorded goal-scoring streaks of five games, seven games and five games (current) and is only nine goals shy of matching his personal high of 40, set last season in 58 games with the FireAntz.

Also Nominated: Tim Green, Columbus (8 gp, 6g, 4a, 2 ppg, +4 rating), Matthew Larke, Mississippi (10 gp, 5g, 9a, 3 ppg, currently on a 17-game point-scoring streak) and Lorne Misita, Pensacola (10 gp, 7g, 2a)
