
Fausnaught Fans Eight in Threshers' Loss

LAKELAND, FL - Despite a career-high eight strikeouts in a career-high 6.0 innings of one-run ball from Braeden Fausnaught, the Clearwater Threshers (75-41, 31-20) fell 3-2 against the Lakeland Flying Tigers (59-57, 33-18) on Thursday night at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Threshers look to pull even with Lakeland on Friday evening.
Zach Arnold led off the second inning with a single off Flying Tigers starter Joe Miller and stole second base. Bryson Ware walked and Ryan Leitch loaded the bases with a single to right. Dakota Kotowski drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to deep left field that scored Arnold and gave the Threshers a 1-0 lead. Lakeland got a sacrifice fly of their own in the home half of the second to even the score at one run apiece.
Ware began a two-out rally after getting hit by a pitch in the fourth. Leitch moved him to second with a single and Kotowski drove him home with an RBI single to give the Threshers a 2-1 lead. Lakeland took their first lead in the eighth on back-to-back RBI singles to pull ahead 3-2. The Flying Tigers bullpen retired all but one batter in the final 3.0 frames to hold on and defeat the Threshers 3-2.
Fausnaught allowed one unearned run on three hits in 6.0 innings of work with one walk and eight strikeouts in a no-decision. Eiberson Castellano (2-2) took the loss with two runs allowed in 2.0 innings, striking out two and surrendering five hits.
Kotowski has two multi-RBI games in three starts with the Threshers this season...Miller stole the first base of his career in the fifth inning...Leitch has five multi-hit games in 10 August games...Heredia recorded his second multi-hit game in seven appearances with Clearwater...Ware reached all four times he came to the plate...The Threshers continue their road trip against the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Friday, August 25...
